Crystal and Stones
Another symptom of Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome is the over production of uric acid that results in stones and crystals. They range in size from poppy seeds to a lemon and are most commonly found in between the joints of hands and feet. This can be noticed in babies as young as one week with "orange sand" in their diapers. |

If a baby isn't learning new skills (like walking or sitting without help) this is a sign developmental delay and could be a sign of Lesch- Nyhan Syndrome. |
Neuromotor Disability
People with this usually have problems controlling their muscles. It can be so bad that it can disable them from walking and using their hands. |
Behavioral Problems
Some of these problems include; hitting, spitting, and swearing. People with Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome are not violent though. They simply can't control their actions. Learning Disabilities
People with this disease suffer from mildly to moderate cognitive impairment. Although they have a relatively good memory and language skills, they have trouble concentrating for extended periods of time. Self Injury Behavior
Another behavioral problem includes the desire to harm themselves. This symptom usually starts appearing between 2-4 years of age but sometimes early. Biting lips and tongues some of the most common problems. |
